Job Description.

Job Level: 3A

The Farm and Supply Chain Economics Manager will support our organization’s strategic development and implementation of workers’ living wages and household livelihoods, working closely with the Lead, Farm & Supply Chain Economics and the team to achieve our impact area “People have improved economic wellbeing”.

As part of the Livelihoods and Human Rights team, the Farm & Supply Chain Economics Manager is responsible for supporting Rainforest Alliance’s living wage work and addressing important livelihoods economic concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, manage, and disseminate knowledge, information, and resources around living wage and livelihood economics themes to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage living wage and livelihood economics projects, including monitoring deliverables, serving as the initial point of contact, and sustaining partnerships.
  • Assist Livelihoods and Human Rights colleagues in building a thematic vision and applying it into strategic interventions.
  • Provide technical expertise and economic analysis for the certification program as well as donor and company-funded programs addressing living wage and livelihood challenges.
  • Support the Rainforest Alliance certification program, as well as its associated resources and information.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Livelihood team’s efforts when needed.
  • Prioritize strategically and maintain an agile approach, ensuring that templates, white papers, and example bids are ready to use.
  • Lead all elements of RA’s interest, rather than just their programmatic competence; hence, work as an integrated team to strengthen programs and projects through deep and current topic knowledge and the inclusion of all subjects relevant to the opportunity and purpose.
  • Ensure that cross-functional collaboration procedures are fluid, effective, and service-oriented.
  • Collaborate closely with Corporate Engagement and Partnerships, Data and Technology, Growth and Innovation, regional divisions, and others as needed to achieve integrated Standards & Frameworks and Thriving Landscape services while also supporting account management.
  • Ensure that the data and dashboards from the Data and Technology portfolio are used to enhance programming.
  • Use the data from Producer Centricity projects, such as the Community Listening Program.
  • Ensure that unambiguous RACIs are in place and respected, as well as Go-No-Go and Where-We-Work policies are followed and executed.
  • Ensure that organization-wide learning about programming competency areas is effective.

The role holder will be expected to foster teamwork and assist the team in creating impact. The role holder will help to foster a data-driven and conscientious culture by establishing clear priorities and enabling innovative, feasible solutions to complicated problems via robust yet flexible decision-making processes.

Required Skill or Experience

  • First-year degree in Economics, Business, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, or a similar field, followed by a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics or an MBA.
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional (and field) experience in agricultural economics, preferably in the global South.
  • Experience in supply chain economics, specifically Living Wage.
  • Knowledge of certification programs in relation to liveable wages, livelihoods, and sustainable practices.
  • Experience in the sustainable cultivation of at least one of the Rainforest Alliance’s priority crops (cocoa, coffee, tea, or banana) is preferred.
  • Fundraising experience, including the development of complicated proposals and initiatives for bilateral or multilateral donor agencies and corporate collaborations. (Desirable)
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and written. Additional languages, particularly
  • Spanish, and/or French, are useful.
  • Capable and willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
